The Indonesian Government Rehabilitation of the Irrigation Channel

This step was part of the implementation of President's instruction to priority the development of the infrastructure of agriculture.

"This province including Banten, West Java, Central Java, East Java, South Sulawesi, West Sumatra and North Sumatra," said Public Works Minister, Djoko Kirmanto after the limited cabinet meeting with the President and Vice President in the Department of Agriculture, on Tuesday (15/1).

"In fact all the provinces could the part, but that was biggest to the province that became the national rice barn," said Djoko.

According to him, the development and rehabilitation of the network of this irrigation was ascertained could not be finished in time one year like that was wanted by the Agriculture Minister.

The reason is, apart from the annual fund will not suffice; time that was needed for this program was long enough.

According to Djoko, the development and rehabilitation of the network of the irrigation as well as the control of the flood just would finish in 2009.

At this time the network of the irrigation that was available was as big as 6,7 million hectare, where around 1,5 million hectare broken and entered the rehabilitation program.
